Differences Between Single CIS and Double CIS in Bill Counters

Structure and Working Principle:
  • Single CIS: Contains one Contact Image Sensor (CIS). It scans banknotes using this single sensor to capture image information, which is then analyzed by built-in algorithms to identify the authenticity and denomination of the bills.
  • Double CIS: Equipped with two image sensors that scan the banknotes from different angles or positions, providing more comprehensive and detailed image information. Both sensors work simultaneously, capturing different image features for more accurate counting and counterfeit detection.
Counterfeit Detection Accuracy:
  • Single CIS: Strong detection capabilities for magnetic, infrared, and ultraviolet features, but may struggle with high-quality counterfeits or specially treated notes due to limited information from a single sensor.
  • Double CIS: Higher accuracy in detection, as the two sensors capture information from different angles, allowing for a more thorough analysis. This makes it more effective at identifying advanced counterfeits, such as those created through splicing or gluing.
Serial Number Recognition:
  • Single CIS: Can recognize serial numbers but may have limitations in speed and accuracy due to restricted image information, leading to incomplete or incorrect recognitions during fast counting.
  • Double CIS: Significant advantages in recognizing serial numbers, thanks to comprehensive image information from both sensors, improving accuracy and efficiency even under fast counting conditions or with worn bills.
Counting Speed:
  • Single CIS: Generally faster since it processes less data with one sensor, but complex counterfeit checks can slow it down.
  • Double CIS: May be slightly slower due to the larger data volume from two sensors, though modern double CIS machines have improved speed without sacrificing counterfeit detection accuracy, catering to most usage scenarios.
Price:
  • Single CIS: Typically lower in price, suitable for users with limited budgets or less stringent counterfeit detection needs, such as small shops and convenience stores.
  • Double CIS: Higher priced due to advanced technology and superior performance, making it suitable for banks, large malls, and financial institutions where accuracy and speed are critical.
